“Trump is not concerned about “migration”; in some general sense, he’s concerned that the immigrants are not white.”

I think there was an editorial error: the semicolon here appears misplaced.

I think the ‘alpha’ here is being used in the investment sense (basically, advantage over alternatives), which is somehow even dumber.

This piece has a minor inaccuracy:

“Similarly, only 28 percent of homes changed hands in the first nine months of 2025, marking the lowest turnover rate in at least 30 years, Redfin found last month.”

But the linked Redfin page claims “28 out of every 1000”, or 2.8%, not 28%.

These are all so evocative; love your stuff.

I was not ready for this to happen in The Big Sleep, but like all things Chandler, it totally rules

The S&P 500’s market cap is ~$57T vs CS skins’ ~$6B, so no, not really.

The Pod Save America softball interview never even asked if he planned to get rid of the tattoo, which is utterly baffling. I’m willing to accept he didn’t know what it meant, but obviously now he does—is he planning to live his life with a Nazi symbol on his chest, just because he won’t back down?

There’s a Cormac McCarthy quote I can’t find about a guy who was born in the days of wagons and oil lamps and died in the days of jet planes and atom bombs; this really blew my mind when I first came across it, and basically describes my grandfather.

It’s too bad they changed the legend rule; I miss the days when the best answer to Jitte was Jitte.

At least, not an option that leads to happiness. Though I think it might be worthwhile to look at this as a game, like Dark Souls, where one of the canonical endings is “you give up and are trapped on purgatory.”
October 14, 2025 at 9:49 PM
Also, I think different parts of the game will challenge different people (JFC, cactuses!), but I somehow didn’t slip a single time in the sand castle. I was locked-in while streaming and talking to friends about politics; I somehow made it across the entire mine cart track while lamenting fascism.
October 14, 2025 at 9:42 PM
I’m not so sure (though I haven’t finished it); I think it’s a meditation on failure and desire, and I don’t think the intended message is “give up when things get bad”, given the changes to the loading screen etc. To me, it seems to be more about deciding what matters to you and pursuing that.
October 14, 2025 at 9:35 PM
I genuinely believe that defeating that impulse is what this game is about.
October 14, 2025 at 8:51 PM
Yeah, I think it’s very much about masculinity. The way Nate relates to the group of big-dicked donkeymen, especially, feels to me like a very masculine social hierarchy, with all the mixed feelings of inadequacy that can come from being included in a group of ‘men’ when you don’t think you belong.

Yeah, I went hiking in Amalfi, and all I could think about was how much it felt like Baby Steps. Gotta angle my feet just right for maximum grip!

Why would you be skeptical of the IDF abusing prisoners? When video evidence of guards violently raping prisoners came to light, Smotrich called the accused “heroic warriors,” and members of the Knesset stormed the prison trying to break them out. It’s not like the abuse is some incredible secret.

Which seems consonant with the narrative themes thus far (basically “a life without struggle is pointless, and therefore you must learn to enjoy failing”).
October 5, 2025 at 6:15 AM
Baby Steps really calls to mind the “voluntary attempt to overcome unnecessary obstacles” notion; sometimes I clamber across the rocks to kick over the cans just because I saw them and thought, “huh, that looks tough.” The level design is full of what feel like personal challenges from Foddy.

September 23, 2025 at 6:53 PM
This would be cool.

Modern design precludes whole swathes of the set, e.g. color hosers. You could maybe make it work by cutting to one CoP/ward with color defined on play, but something like Conversion is unsalvageable without a fundamental redesign. Also fun questions like, what’s Dark Ritual?
September 22, 2025 at 2:03 AM
Why do you believe this?
September 20, 2025 at 7:23 PM
This *is* pretty incoherent; what does this have to do with anything? Do you for some reason believe I want Jimmy Kimmel to be president?
