It’s a species of Staphylococcus! They are gram positive, so they retain ultra violet stain due to their multiple glycoprotein layers that act like a mesh net. Named for its features, the round spheres in clusters means “staph-“ for clusters, and “coccus” for berries, or round. Cool, right?
