Ramblings about The Arsenal and GWS GIANTS.
Fucking shit. Fucking lucky. But we take the three points and move on.

Finally we have a midweek off. Let’s hope the rest and recovery, plus some work from the coaches, sees an improvement next week. UTA.

When your favourite player’s shirt number is the age you’re turning the birthday present becomes a bit of a no brainer 😂

Decent first half. Little disjointed at times, which is to be expected given the line up.

But overall not bad, looked threatening at times and an incredible goal from Madueke! I’ll be honest, didn’t think he had that in his locker!

As for Hincapie, he brings a whole new meaning to ‘touch tight’ 😂

Listening to @arsenalvpodcast.bsky.social Villa IR was much needed reflection.

Very much on same page as @clivepafc.bsky.social re: team balance.

And @arsenalvisionpodcast.com gave me hope when he said City have Madrid & Palace this week, then I remembered Palace’s post Conference League results!

That game was never played on our terms.

Transitional from start to finish, missing our best centre backs and with heavy legs.

Needed to just get out of there with a point and we should have.

Needless throw given away and then panic stations from there, before it fell perfectly for them. Gutting.

Are you fucking kidding me. Two stupid fucking goals conceded today. Gutting. Pissed.

If Gyokeres is fit he should have started.

Merino has done well this season, but let’s not suddenly pretend he isn’t a midfielder playing as our fourth choice centre forward due to injuries.

He’s not alone in looking leggy today, but therefore use the fresh legs - assuming they’re fit of course.
Merino has played a ton & looks way off it today. Not just sloppy on the ball but losing the ball cheaply. If gyok is fit, I think he'd be a sensible halftime sub. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Eze come off, which is harsh, but he's been largely a passenger at both ends

Aside from Saka, who looked a threat every time he got it, we slept walked our way through that half.

And the goal was symptomatic; Merino loses possession too easily, they carry it unopposed, no pressure on the cross, and Eze fell asleep at the back post.

Wake up Arsenal!!

One of those that will probably look really comfortable and calm in a re-watch.

But when it’s live and your anxiety is through the roof, that second half was horrible! 😂

Big three points. Now to recover as best we can because it’s another big one on Saturday!
Comfortable and dominant victory. Nice and easy 😅

But Mosquera injury aside, a positive first half.

Good to get an early goal. Great to see White playing and playing well (will his legs last 90 now though?), and Madueke looked bright (except his corners!).

Bench will be key though, as will a second or third goal. Not sure one is enough.

Squad depth only really a thing if you have no injuries (so can rotate the team), or if your injuries are spread out across positions.

But when injuries are clustered and you have to play your 4th choice ST for over a month and now playing your 5th choice CB, injuries are still a big issue.

Someone asked @arseblog.com and @gunnerblog.bsky.social on the latest Arsecast Extra about the impact of London derbies on a title race (given the volume).

Fulham 1-3 down at half time against City, in what will be their 19th consecutive defeat to City.

Now compare to recent efforts against us!…

What a beautiful start to my Monday morning.

North London is red. UTA. ❤️🤍

Squad depth is great, but when all the injuries are to a specific part of the field then it’s still a big issue.

Gyokeres, Havertz, Jesus, Martinelli, Madueke. That’s 5 of our 7 forwards injured.

Then add to that Odegaard as our captain and chief creator.

Hope some are back after the interlull!

@arsenalvisionpodcast.com @tim-stillman.bsky.social @clivepafc.bsky.social

Question: when was the last time you saw the opposition play with such a suicidal high-line, comical offside trap, and leave our most dangerous forward unmarked in acres of space like we seem to see for City each week?

🎶 🎵 🎶

How shit must you be,
How shit must you beeeeeee,
We’ve scored open play,
How shit must you be!!

🎶 🎵 🎶

Conceding two open play goals against us. How shit must you be, Brighton?

Serious note: how good were both of those goals? Flick from Merino and run from Timber both excellent.

That was a struggle this morning, both the game and streaming service! 😤

Constant lagging and freezing meant I gave up on the full match and watched the mini instead. To be honest, was probably best for my nerves!

As for midweek, wholesale changes please. Not a regular starter should be in sight!

Loved the first two episodes (Part 1 and the Colin Lewin interview) of the “One-Nil To The Arsenal” series on the @arsenalvpodcast.bsky.social covering our 1994 European Cup Winners Cup triumph.

Very much looking forward to listening to the episodes still to come!

Put that in the job done, move on category. UTA.

Thank you, Eddie. But counts for nothing unless we do our job, in a very difficult fixture. UTA.

I’m shocked I tell you. Shocked. 🙄
And I assume City are receiving the same criticism in the media for doing with 11 what we got slaughtered for doing with 10 last season?

No? They’re not? What a surprise.

Early goal (which was very poor, from Calafiori’s shit cross, to all being sucked to the ball, to just letting Halaand run free) set the tempo and gave City the game they wanted, especially given our choice of starting eleven.

Disappointing overall, but important to grab the late equaliser. UTA.
