Have a bit of chapter 5 of my Phaidei+Hephaestion fic for #WIPWednesday! Mention of hypothetical trans pregnancy.

I am working on SO many things right now in parallel, some of which can't be posted for a while even once I finish them, but this chapter should hopefully come out soon.
The prince’s eyebrow raises in a challenge, but his expression is serious, rather than the smirk Phainon expects. “You speak of unity, Deliverer—would you consider becoming my consort? I would fight more freely if I knew that I had a strong heir, educated to lead a nation, to rule it in the event of my demise.” Phainon downs the entire rest of his goblet of wine in one gulp, his low alcohol tolerance be damned. Did Mydei just suggest— “I’m afraid I cannot provide you with an heir, Prince Mydei,” he gasps out, his face hot. “I don’t know where you got the idea, but I don’t have the, ah. The equipment to make that happen.” Mydei glances down, to the very obvious tent in Phainon’s pants. There’s not the slightest chance to hide it—not while sandwiched with Hephaestion at his back, the man’s breath hot against his ear as he keeps Phainon from falling backwards off of his chair. Not with Mydei letting out a low laugh, his gaze flicking back up to Phainon’s face. “You do,” assures Mydei, and gently grips Phainon’s wrist. He tugs Phainon’s hand forward, along the line of his own inner thigh, and brings it to rest over his groin. Phainon’s breath hitches as his hand cups over flat, soft heat, the faintest hint of dampness bleeding through the fabric. His fingers twitch instinctively, pressing into the warm valley beneath, and there’s a heavy throb against them as Mydei lets out a low, pleased noise. “Oh,” he breathes, yanking his hand back as if he’s been burned, his cock throbbing and spilling an obscene amount of precum. “You’d—” his voice cracks. “You’d be the one carrying." “It’s convenient, really,” murmurs Hephaestion against the shell of his ear. “There’s no better way to confirm an heir is legitimate than for the entire detachment to watch the prince nurture them for nine months.” Phainon hasn’t ever heard a single thing about pregnancy referred to as convenient, but he supposes that’s up to Mydei to decide for himself.

The inexorable march of time: "Boss, it's Saturday."

It's been one of those weeks. Have a random Saturday peek instead, from a #Phaidei + Hephaestion (Phaideistion?) fic involving their 10-day duel.
The prince’s expression is raw and open as Phainon chokes him, flushed with intense emotion in the way Phainon imagines a lover’s expression might be. Phainon goes breathless, his grip faltering as he dares to imagine the prince in his bed. He’s never wanted another. Sex and romance have always been distant—ideals to fight for, but for others. Not for himself. Now, he wonders. Mydei knees him in the dick, and all thoughts of romance fly out of Phainon’s head as he fights to keep himself from crumpling. He’s saved by Hephaestion calling time a mere moment later, and he collapses where he lays on his side, breathing hard as Mydei’s claws retreat from his back. “Good fight,” says Mydei, his voice low so the crowd can’t hear. He’s panting, run ragged just like Phainon, and he runs a gauntleted finger over Phainon’s busted lip, wiping up the blood before licking it off with a wild grin. “Get yourself seen to, Deliverer. I expect you back here tomorrow.”

Well. Him and Mydei, it seems. And if Mydei had stuck to the video feeds It would have been fine, but of course Kremnos would have access logs. And of course Mydei would check them. A nervous laugh bubbles out of his chest, reminding him to breathe. “I missed you?” he says, the charm falling flat even to his own ears. He winces, wilting under Mydei’s glare. He can’t see it, but it’s easy enough to know it’s there. Mydei’s weight shifts as he kneels beside Phainon rather than on him, bringing his face into Phainon’s peripheral vision. “I missed you too. But I didn’t spy on you in the baths. I didn’t film you naked and transmit it over half the continent—what was it, forty-two times?” Phainon’s face burns scalding-hot. “I didn’t mean to! At least, not at first—” And he really didn’t! When he’d remembered he’d connected his teleslate to Castrum Kremnos’s drones on a previous mission, he’d only meant to check in and make sure Mydei was okay, since they can’t use Aglaea’s network to text while he’s in Castrum Kremnos. But when he’d discovered footage of Mydei pleasuring himself while draped in Phainon’s cloak, he’d been rock-hard within seconds. And, well, one thing had led to another... “Forty-two times.” Mydei sighs. “Phainon. Beloved.” Phainon should be glad to hear that word. It should be reassuring. But right now, nose rubbed in his own shame like a misbehaving puppy, it just sounds sarcastic.

The other dancers dampen their feet and move swiftly over the coals, making only single advances on Mydei that imitate attacks before they dance back out of the fire. But Mydei remains steadfastly in place, shifting his feet in time with the weapon drills his movements imitate. A step forward, the thrust of an imaginary spear; a step back, the shimmy of his upper body, the twist of a shoulder as if dodging an arrow. Phainon’s hair grows fast, and it’s just long enough to gather the ends into a short ponytail and keep them out of his face while working out, but not quite long enough to stay there without subjecting him to a headache from being pulled back. He complains to Mydei about it while putting up his hair for the fiftieth time at the gym. “I could try,” says Mydei, passing him a water bottle. “If you trust me. Used to fix up the neighborhood kids when they put gum in each others’ hair.” After the past few months, he trusts Mydei more than anyone else alive. He doesn’t say that, of course, not directly, but he does agree—which is how he finds himself over at Mydei’s apartment for the first time, bringing up the picture on his phone as they crowd into Mydei’s bathroom in front of the mirror. “Hmm,” says Mydei. “What is that supposed to mean?” “It means hmm. I can do that if you really want it, but I want to try something else first. It’s longer, but it’ll keep the sweat off your neck and it won’t require as much maintenance. If you don’t like it, I’ll switch over to the cut you asked for.” “...sure.” Now he’s curious. Is this one of those instances where he simply can’t see what might look best? One of his debate teachers had threatened to bar him from events if he didn’t smarten up his attire, which is why he’s now spending most of his time outside of the gym in button-ups. He can’t deny he likes the way he looks in them though, especially now that his shoulders are beginning to broaden. And he definitely likes how he sometimes catches Mydei staring, on the few occasions they hang out while not at the gym. Today was a gym day though, so he’s wearing a simple navy t-shirt that breathes easy, hides the shadows of his curves, and covers the thick straps of his compression bra. He closes his eyes as Mydei works, breathing in the scent of some sort of body wash or shampoo that lingers from Mydei’s shower this morning. Vanilla, maybe? Something warm at least, like the man himself. The careful drag of a comb through his hair is followed by gentle pulls and the schk schk schk of scissors shearing away the excess. Cold steel rests against his nape, and silky locks fall and tickle just beneath the neck of his shirt. Mydei’s fingers dip beneath his shirt and leave goosebumps in their wake as they tease the stray hair loose, and Phainon’s breath hitches, his toes curling. “Sorry,” says Mydei, half a whisper. “I shouldn’t have—” “—‘sfine,” he chokes out. “I don’t mind if you touch me.” Mydei visibly swallows in the mirror, and Phainon clamps his mouth and eyes shut, praying his brain will shut off too before he can fully think through the implications of what he just said. “...I’m almost done anyways. Just a little more up top.” Phainon nods, and Mydei goes back to work, the gentle snips of the scissors lulling him into meditative complacency. In Sunday's case it derives from the feather-textured 'vest' on his original outfit that has one side's feathers longer than the others, and looks like a pair of folded-over wings. Robin also has plumage incorporated at her waist, and visually manifests wings when she uses her skill.
