I need someone to explain the thought process behind these to me. What do they gain from having a giant connector pin to the joy-con, and how is it not going to be immediately scratched and ruined?

The same battle, 14 turns later. The Johnsons are at 9% health, have become the ghost type, and have had their attack and speed stats raised to the maximum level. All of the opponent's Pokemon have fainted.

Finally. A fair fight.
