I am part of the solution. We all are part of the solution. Just you and I writing is part of the solution. I, for one, don't get too myopic about what the rich and more about what people DO about the poor; how they give of their time, talent and treasure instead of giving of OTHERS' treasure.

Good thing I don't vote Republican...or Democrat, for that matter. But, yes, I've noted not only that were the Bush tax cuts ceaselessly extended, but that they were extended under Democratic rule. So, rhetoric is just rhetoric--especially since I've noted tax cuts in my paychecks.
December 5, 2025 at 10:07 PM
Ok, but it's not been just for the wealthy...that they have been included in on it does not make them "tax cuts for the wealthy"--the implication when people say that is that it's only for them and, as a middle-classer, I assure you they have not.

They are out permanently in 2028. I think MAGA is as fleeting as The Tea Party.

SCOTUS and Congress...alas, that takes a Constitutional amendment and there doesn't seem to be the will to get those fundamental things done quick.

Isn't an EO a presidential proclamation...? Presidents, particularly in relatively recent history, have been quite liberal in their usage.

I understand the need for caution and prudence--Russia has lost a LOT in the Ukraine war. Their doctrine specifies they'll use their nukes if they're in an existential bind. That we might be to the point where nukes might fly, particularly if Ukraine went farther into Russia, is a thing to consider.
December 5, 2025 at 9:00 PM
That's just rhetoric...the same with the ACA being "Obamacare" despite all of the Republican votes (also a Democratic majority there).
December 5, 2025 at 8:27 PM
It also wasn't all him if the Democratic Congress agreed upon it to the point of bills passing.
December 5, 2025 at 7:56 PM
Democrats were in charge of Congress (the House for all of it, the Senate for half of it) for most of Reagan...so, I don't think I can really blame one side when it comes to tax policy--there was a duality there whose blend was such that it wasn't nearly as dysfunctional then as now.
December 5, 2025 at 7:42 PM
Yea, but is that really a "choice", on the part of consumers? Content just kind of is where it is.
December 5, 2025 at 4:50 PM
What choices are they losing when it comes to losing two distinct brands in WB and HBO?
December 5, 2025 at 1:43 PM
Maybe...but, my daughter really enjoys reading the Potter series. And I'm sure that some of Rowling's newer wizarding stuff will be adapted.

And then when they are and it doesn't contain what you think it should contain, you'll say they've been changed or redacted. This will never end. Plus, Trump has somehow made it through indictments and impeachments...I don't think this will move the needle if he's in on it big.

The whole income tax structure in this country is all about dividing us and is also pretty much a scaled up equivalent of the speeding ticket. If there's one thing I think I do agree with Trump on, elimination of the income tax would be good. But, its replacement shouldn't be tariffs.

I'm not talking about individualism, conceptually. I am talking about simple yes/no votes--because that's how our voting is structured.
December 4, 2025 at 9:02 PM
I have yet to find anyone "sane" in Congress.
December 4, 2025 at 9:00 PM
No, every new issue requires a majority. That's democracy. No coalition required.
December 4, 2025 at 8:57 PM
No, we really don't. What we need are legislative chambers who represent the will of the people--collective action can be decided upon per issue. The party system is an overlay that yields prejudice and other undesirable base instincts.

I don't see a thing about this in independent news ground.news/interest/rus...

That is the American way, sadly, and it's not isolated to one party. Forget economics, it's the country's moral soul which is hollow.

Besides sales tax, which is unavoidable, do illegal immigrants pay taxes? Since the "illegal" moniker is rather important in the conversation, I'd like to know how many of those do pay taxes outside of that.
