This is, I think, the fundamental problem with the constant back-and-forth of US politics. It takes a lot of time/effort/money to build infrastructure, and virtually none to destroy it, leaving us in a one-step-forward-two-steps-back loop. And they get better at destroying things with each cycle.

Especially considering that, for over a year, we’ve had a 900-page blueprint exhaustively detailing this nightmare. “Coming into focus” is pretty rich - it was right there in ultra-high definition, with the only asterisk being “*if Rs control all branches”.

I suppose. Ten years and after immeasurable damage, and at a time when the press itself is at risk, is pretty fuckin’ late tho.

A combo of poor judgment in trustworthy people, with the conspiracy-theory mindset that makes ‘the left is secretly plotting to ruin every aspect your life’’ feel more credible to them than any provable, evidence-based, vetted, tested, plainly observable fact. It’s a feedback loop.

Depends which courts. There are *a lot* of Trump appointees from his first admin in the judicial system. Which incidentally is what’s been enabling hard right extremists to get insane cases that should be dismissed, bubbled up to the SCOTUS.
