I don't think there's any link, just that Mystery Men laid some cultural groundwork.

And you're right, it is a bad movie. But I like it for it's faults. I have no defence for that, other than "I'm weird and like weird stuff".

Well, I know what I must do, I just don't know if I have the disposable income to do it.

I think the dichotomy was part of the point. They had these AMAZING actors playing terrible people.

In my eyes, Mystery Men walked so that Watchmen could run.

Much like genre-savvy zombie media can be insufferable, if the MC knows isekai tropes they're the WORST.

Give me someone who's trying their best and figuring it out as they go.

I have a LOT of suggestions, being both a fan and author in the genre, but it comes down to what else you like.

Even brass is worth more than dross, or worse, an empty hand.

I love that imagery.

I had temporary aphasia after a motorcycle crash.

Could not remember the word "aquarium", so after a minute or two of "oh god, what is the word" I went with Fish Zoo.

My coworkers never let me forget it.

Patreon might be the place to go, you can insert images, video and audio into a post. And they make linking pretty easy.

Here's the link to my short story collection, all free to read.

Ah, you already know it. Sorry.

How about Mark Of The Fool? The MC wants to be a wizard, but their divine given hero powers fight any attempt to cast spells, or fight. They have to think around or muscle thru to get the job done.

Still a bit of the "genius" trope though.
