One of the first things you are taught as a rider: look where you want to go. Not at your hands, not at your feet, not at the ground or the horse or where you have been. Look where you want to go, because you will go where you look. I get that things are fucking bleak in the US. But we keep falling back and crying that we won't make it, elections won't happen. Okay? What the fuck does that do? Okay, so the elections don't happen. Are you just going to throw up your hands and accept the regime? Okay, mass arrests and wide-scale voted disenfranchisement happens. Do you just... Let it? I am a person who manages anxiety by imagining the worst. I've spent a significant amount of time lately with the worst possible outcomes and how I'd deal with them, and I still don't understand the point of declaring that we'de fucked. Because I don't know about you, but I'm not giving up. When the fear and grief pile up, I think about a country without concentration camps. One where Black kids aren't shot for existing, where synagogues aren't burned, where Indigenous elders have running water, where kids are healthy and safe and happy. Because we've tried imagining all the dystopias and it turns out those came true because people read them and went "hey, what a good idea!", so clearly that plan doesn't work. Stop doing the regime's work for them. Imagine a future where this shit is a nightmare past we vow never to allow again. Look where you want to go.

Trump promised to leave abortion to the states. He capped his first week by targeting reproductive rights Bore off. They weren't about to invade' in January and it was clearly a lie about Iraqi WMD. In fact it was lie after lie down the years. 'Russia is about to invade Ukraine' is the 2022 equivalent of 2003's Iraq has WMDs which can be assembled and launched within 45 minutes'.
