I have a running joke (which is probably not that much of a joke) with my queer sister that queer women will often start with mlm books because they want to build an audience and then once they have one they will bring out the sapphic books that they actually wanted to do in the first place.

It does have a much harder fight because straight women generally don’t read sapphic books. There are exceptions of course, but I (a queer person) will read the same m/m books as straight women and I cannot get them interested in the sapphic books I also read.

As part of my job I communicate with people in prisons, this is absolutely a flex. It’s sad that it is, but it’s true.

And it’s worse than when they were kids. In the Midwest where I live we are going to run into a wet bulb issue where basically there will be so much humidity with the heat that humans won’t be able to cool down at all outside. Certainly wasn’t like that when I was a kid 30 years ago.

We are assholes in other ways, but when public places have to be turned into cooling centers so people don’t die I would say we are aware that AC is vital.
