As part of the AARG Conference a group us enjoyed a field trip to Halsstein Bygdeborg / Hillfort in Levanger, Nord-Trøndelag. Dating from the Bronze - Iron Age it had been burned down and rebuilt several times. You can see more photos in the latest AARGnews at aargonline.com/

Last week AARG supported 5 members to attend a TRAIL (Training and Research in the Archaeological Interpretation of LiDAR) workshop in Slovenia. Attendees enhanced their knowledge of LiDAR and machine learning. Thanks to Žiga Kokalj from ZRC SAZU for an excellent event!

On this wonderful #HillfortsWednesday we look back at issue 68 of AARGnews where our Editor's Picture focussed on Uffington Castle - an Iron Age univallate hillfort. Environment Agency LiDAR shows incredible detail, including medieval ridge and furrow within the hillfort itself!

[1/2] Spotted on declassified HEXAGON & Google Earth imagery, this enigmatic linear feature in Ukraine spans ~1.5 km, with two light-toned bands + a faint ditch at the NW end. Banks? Cursus? Something else entirely?
