No reason to buy a RVL-101, like ever. The only difference is that the GameCube ports weren't soldered onto the board, the disc drive does not mechanically accept GC discs, and the text on the shell faces horizontal. Hell, the shell is still interchangable between the two. Holes are still there too.

Tip: Unlike the console, region changing the Wii U gamepad has no side effect compared to buying a real USA gamepad, therefore I recommend it if your GamePad breaks!
