Indeed, I almost feel as if I have some sort of responsibility to set an "example" of good Christianhood against all the people who misuse God's words. But I'm meandering right now.

My explanation is that I much prefer to read the Old Testament as an ancient collection of lessons rather than an actual description of God's personality (the New Testament is better for that). Hell, the Catholic Church itself sort of leans to this direction in making it about the "message".

I feel like a bit of an outsider here because being Culturally Catholic I do admire many things about Christianity.
Of course, I am acutely aware of its excesses. I even feel a little guilty although I was never the fundamentalist type. Oh well, I guess it's part of the "Catholic" part.
