Just the joy of animal care work when you're perpetually understaffed and no one understands dog caring is actually a complicated skill set. Everything is healed, no complications or infected, it's just been draining.

My colours ended up muddy, and I think its because I picked the yellow wash mid way and that was kinda EHHHH bad choice on my initial blue base.

No sweat man!! You got this!! Potentially see what the chin on left hand dude is doing too, the skin naturally softens as the head is pushed back which it looks like you've done!! But he might need another line to show where jaw / jowls / throat sit to help give that plane transition some clarity?

It looks really great so far! I think it might be a mix where their faces need to be a little bit more foreshortened? As they're both tilting into and away from the viewer, so the noses might need to be shortened, or the eyes placed higher/lower respectively (I also struggle with working this out!!)

But I also get too cranky if one piece takes me more than a week and I have spent a lot of time honing my style to make my process faster, and figure out what feels good for me to hit the sweet spot between good flow and detail.

It can vary from piece to piece, mood to mood for me! Some weeks I complete a lot really fast, other times, I spend days on one piece.
My rule of thumb for my studies is never more than two sessions worth of painting, commissions I give myself a minimum of three.
