Three angry little ændras in a trenchcoat.

This is me after dark. Don't expect professionalism.

CW: anything and everything, such is my life.
Something I said in a talk earlier this year: selfies are an expression of queer joy, and their absence on a platform is a canary in a coalmine.

Personally, I haven't felt very comfortable posting selfies on Bluesky in ages.

I got into it around the time settlements were added, got a bit bored and put it down, picked it up again a few years later when they added corvettes and wow it's incredible how much new content there is and how well it helps better realise the universe. I keep discovering new features, it's great.

There's a metaphor or three in there...

In the feels 💚

My Autophage settlement got to S-class today, I approved a public artwork which removed the "Air of Distrust" settlement attribute

Just a city of outcasts, rebuilding each other using the pieces of their distant lives, that I occasionally defend from space bugs using my giant robot.

Yeah we're filing one if only because a guy stepped in to de-escalate the situation and if anything happened we want it on record that he helped us
November 13, 2025 at 3:13 AM
To be clear, I think he de-escalated the situation but I have no idea because my partner and I got off the train at the next station while the two men remained onboard. Who knows what happened when the train got to the next station?

I thought London was safe, despite everything. I guess I was wrong.

But even still, there are still good people out there. I'm so grateful for the guy who put himself in harm's way. I hope to god he's okay.

He called us "devils".

He would have done it if we hadn't run away, or if one amazingly heroic young man hadn't stepped between us and him.

I have a gala to go to on Friday for trans people working in finance, and I'm like, do I show up and be like "hello fellow transgenders, how many of you have been hate-crimed this year or is it just me?"
November 13, 2025 at 2:25 AM
Like holy fuck. My partner and I could have died tonight. We both emerged unscathed. We're extremely lucky we did.

How do you process that? I want to curl into a ball and just play videogames for the next 72 hours.

The GOP/Dems didn't even pick those colours! Someone at NYT decided to shade a choropleth a particular way in 2000 and now we're stuck with them. Even weirder, the colour associations were often the opposite up until then.

How did the major political parties get their colors?
As the votes are tallied on election night and maps show which presidential candidate has a lead in each state, viewers likely won't need an explanation on why some states and red and others blue.

I have a lot of thoughts on this in the context of data visualisation. Ask me about the diverging red/blue colour scale I had to rip out at the 11th hour recently because my team decided it made a graphic look too much like an election map... Red and blue are tainted colours for data vis.

I wouldn't say they're evil, they're pretty helpful for larger codebases, especially when multiple people are working on them, though maintaining dependencies and configuring build tools can be a right pain. You're correct that they're bad for learning fundamentals, though.
