Uhh, hate to break it to them, but they’ve never really had much, if any, trust. And them not existing in three years is the best they can hope for because most people want far worse than that for them.

When you understand that this guy literally thinks that “asylum seekers” are people that escaped from old-timey insane asylums and came to our country, these sorts of comments make a bit more sense. No less stupid, but you can see why he’s saying it.

He’s delusional enough to think that too. Honestly though, I’d love it if he somehow got the nod, because he’d get destroyed in Reagan/Mondale-esque fashion. Assuming we get elections in 28 and the citrus Caligula hasn’t declared himself dictator for life by then.

They still think if they come off as even slightly anti-law enforcement, it’s a losing strategy, even when the bulk of their constituents are shouting “abolish ICE” from the rooftops. My take is that it’s a corporate cash thing. CEOs like cops and hate institutional change. Unless it gets them paid.

They only care because it’s affecting their bottom lines and this is easy, meaningless PR for them. Keep the list handy and see how much they keep donating to GOP candidates this fall and in 28.

This gives me a lot more hope that when cholesterol finally does its damn job, that MAGA will collapse under its own stupidity and in-fighting. These fools all hate each other and Trump is the only tie that binds them.

I’m a soccer fan and support the hell out of this. Teams won’t give up this stage. Individual players might, but FIFA, their home clubs and national teams will hammer them for it. Fans get crazy over this as well and aren’t quite ready to say fascism is a good reason not to go to a match.

They got paid, they don’t care. One or more of their corporate backers wants it combined with the fact they they’re spineless and don’t understand that voting to fund ICE is a losing play for them.

I didn’t say it was a good option, just the one that’ll work given current track records. I just don’t see Dems committing to the level of radical change that would be needed to prevent this. Guardrails, court reform, prosecutions, etc. aren’t going to go over well with their corporate backers.

It would be great to see but it’ll never happen. No soccer team is going to refuse to play. You might get some individual players that’ll back out, then they’ll face fines/penalties for it. Plus, most fans care more about their team than a little fascism and are still going to travel for the games.

Option A is the only one that works. Option B is always 1 cycle away from this shit happening again, and Dems have proven that they’re utterly useless, even when in the driver’s seat. It’s almost like they actively want to lose so they can fundraise off being the victim.
