Very happy with the first paper out of the Brussels Neuromuscular Biomechanics Lab!

We provide evidence that the #SENIAM #EMG guidelines are not appropriate for the LG and SOL muscles and that muscle-tendon decoupling needs to be considered!

Fun night out with the team after a full day of testing in the lab on an exciting #EMG project.

All excited now for comparative muscle biomechanics at the upcoming @sebiology.bsky.social conference in (soon-to-be) sunny Antwerp!

Are you interested in muscle #biomechanics and looking for #postdoc opportunities?

If you have skills in (statistical) shape modelling, advanced data analyses or 3D imaging/model reconstructions, get in touch with me!

I will be at #SEB2025 (Antwerp), #CNB2025 (Helsinki), and #ISB2025 (Stockholm).

Very interesting lecture at @uantwerpen.be on the extinct Tasmanian tiger, by author of this book Charlotte Van Den Boeck at the first #BioTalks.

Always nice when I can work on the University of Antwerp campus, especially when the sheep (left, not right on photo) are there!

Happy that our project "Advancing Knowledge on Human Muscle Contraction through Innovation for 3D Muscle Shape Analysis" was granted by FWO Flanders.

Will be looking for a PhD student soon, so keep an eye out if you are interested in imaging and biomechanics!

Well done Liese Bosman on taking home first place for our study in which we critically assess current electrode placement guidelines for electromyography in reference to individual anatomical variation.

Keep an eye out for more on this work soon.

Week 1 of my 4-week USA trip with stops at 2 top universities.

Stop 1: great to be back at Penn State University for 3 weeks for an experiment in collaboration with the Biomechanics Laboratory, where we will explore new techniques for assessing neuromechanical linkages between muscles.

Who says a writing retreat should be for writing papers?! Very nice and productive 3 days away with our #MOVE research group. Doing some Spike2 coding for the lab after ages.

Has anyone who uses #Biodex analog data experienced so much noise in the torque?

Any suggestions where to begin reducing the noise are more than welcome (already tried several things, non successful). (Using Biodex 4 Pro)

Retweets appreciated!

This original text of Tolkien’s contract for Bilbo (in the Hobbit) is suspiciously similar to the default academic spam emails we receive daily.

Digital transcriptors are the absolute best comedians.

Here’s the first minute of today’s coding class I’m teaching. The class is in Dutch, but Teams is convinced it’s in English.

I just hope I don’t get a visit from national security tomorrow about those missiles🚀

Always great to be back at my Alma Mater, KU Leuven. This time for the opening of the Leuven Centre of Sports Science.

Nice to also hear some exciting work from my buddy Kurt Schütte of Runeasi, and more from Benedicte Vanwanseele, and others.
