been working on some post bench scene loumand. mayhaps there will be blood drinking. perchance there will be memory sharing. certainly things will be horny.
It keeps raining the whole way to the apartment. Armand holds the umbrella for Louis the entire time, his arm never once slackening, mindless of how soaked his clothes are, perfectly courteous. Perfectly obedient. By the time they’ve climbed the stairs and the door falls shut behind them, Louis’s head is spinning with the improbability of it all, the power of it rushing through him like the most heady of drugs. His stomach feels hot and tight with anticipation, his fingertips tingling and tongue heavy. The place is a mess. As he turns on the lights, Louis has to step over the pictures Claudia ripped down earlier, still scattered across the floor. The sight of them sends a pang through him. He has no idea where Claudia is – probably back at the theatre, cavorting around with her new family. She’d expect him to confront Armand, certainly. About what she accused him of, the threat, about Lestat, in general. But Louis doesn’t want to. Why should he? They’ve said all they needed to on that bench, didn’t they? Armand is going to do his best. He’s not going to rat them out, certainly not now that Louis is giving him… well. He’s not quite sure what he’s giving Armand yet, but he knows it matters. That it’s important. And anyway, he’s pretty sure: So, remember how I murdered my last lover? Did you use that information to threaten my sister? would kill the mood immediately. He does not want to kill the mood. So: he’s not going to ask. Simple as that. “Sorry for all that,” Louis says instead, gesturing towards the pictures. Armand shrugs, a miniscule motion. “It doesn’t bother me.” Since they started seeing each other, Armand has been around countless times. It shouldn’t feel special to see him here, shouldn’t send such a thrill through Louis, but it does. There’s a strange novelty to it, something exciting about the way Armand’s shape stands out against the place where he and Claudia have carved out something like a home for themselves. Like something about him has changed since the last time he was here, or maybe like Louis has changed, something inside him shifting, slotting into place. New angle, new lens to capture the scene with, colours and lights just that little bit brighter now. It feels like he’s seeing Armand for the first time. Louis tilts his head, considers Armand, really, properly. Big hat and big coat and big eyes. Raindrops dripping from his pretty lashes, sliding down his slender neck, clinging to the tip of his nose. Clothes plastered to him, bulky and unflattering. He’s still holding the umbrella, folded closed now, a little puddle forming on the floorboards beneath. There’s something in his gaze that’s never been there before, almost bereft. Or, no, not that. Waiting. Waiting for Louis to tell him what to do next. Louis swallows heavily, hands flexing by his sides. Damn. What an intoxicating, frightening thought, that Armand, who is older, more powerful than anyone else Louis has ever met, who doesn’t have to take orders from anyone if he doesn’t want to, who could probably eviscerate him with little more than a thought, wants to hand himself over to Louis like this. That he’s chosen to trust Louis like this. No one else has ever done that – handed Louis the reins so completely, not doubting that he’ll steer them right. Christ, he hopes he won’t fuck it all up. He can’t fuck it all up. Affecting something like boredom, Louis nods towards the water pooling around Armand’s form. “You’re getting my floors all wet,” he says, putting his hands in his pockets. Casual. Pretending he’s not soaked as well. Armand swallows, a tiny thing, his head inclining forwards ever so slightly. It’s fascinating, the way he holds himself, always so controlled, each motion such a small, purposeful act. “Apologies, Maître,” he says, and Christ, there it is again, that word, making a shiver run down Louis’s back. He’s pretty sure he could get used to that. Armand starts shrugging his coat off, but Louis clicks his tongue, and he stops mid motion, looking at Louis with his impossibly bright, impossibly wide eyes. Breath audibly catching in his throat, hanging there suspended between one moment and the next, anticipation crackling in the air between them. The game has started properly now. Louis lets himself smirk, just a bit. “Didn’t say you could undress, did I?” “No, Maître.” "Hm. So why are you doing it, then?" “Hm. So why are you doing it, then?” Armand hesitates for a moment, mouth slightly open. It’s almost funny; Louis thinks he can see the wheels whirring inside his head, trying to come up with a good answer, something that will satisfy instead of disappoint. “I- I thought-” he starts, then stops, tongue moving around his mouth like he’s searching for the right words. A rarity, that, Armand not knowing what to say. He’s so eloquent usually, his speech as put-together as the rest of him. The unexpected novelty of it sends heat rushing through Louis. “There’s no need for that now, you hear me? No more thinking. You just do what I say, yeah, Arun?” The name rolls over his tongue a spit strangely, still, not something Louis fully associates with Armand yet, but it’s worth it for the way it seems to hit Armand, his breath hitching like he’s been punched in the gut. He nods, slow-motion movement. Louis walks up to him, makes sure his steps are measured, not too eager. Takes Armand’s hat off him, runs a careful hand through his wet curls. Hand resting on Armand’s neck, feeling the rabbit-beat of his pulse close under the skin. “You’re my responsibility now, aren’t you?”

One of the painters pats his cheeks, gentle, affectionate. Amadeo has forgotten his name; there are so many men here tonight, and their faces are starting to blur. He’s wine drunk and dizzy with it, and then there’s all the rest, too, the wool-stuffed feeling in his skull, the far-away nature of his thoughts. Figures and shapes blurring all around him. He blinks, focusses. Manages a tired little smile, the one he knows will make him look especially innocent, especially young. “Thank you for spending your time with us, Amadeo,” the painter says. He says it kindly, sincerely. “Always a pleasure,” Amadeo says, voice rough from use, and some of the men laugh. The painter who’d spoken to him gives an indulgent chuckle, ruffles Amadeo’s hair as best as he can with Amadeo still spread out on his back. Amadeo leans into it, briefly, and his smile hurts on his face. Slowly, the men filter out of the room, some of them still talking between themselves, laughing. Some of them thank Amadeo on their way out, lovely Amadeo, kind Amadeo, pretty Amadeo with the pretty mouth and hands and body and tears. Give him a parting caress, a goodbye kiss on the cheek or the forehead or the mouth. Until next time.
