What if

What if the world is dying?
Do we leave that which we love?
What if democracy is failing?
Do we abandon hope?
Everything and everyone we love
Has always been dying
The flip side of loving
That which is mortal
That which is finite
Everything we love has limits
Our love does not

Dandelion

My root is long
Far longer than what you see
I am strong
Cut me and I’ll grow back
Scatter me
And I will multiply
Can’t you see?
I am the resistance
You’ll never be rid of me

Stayed up way too late last night but, worth it!

Taken through our telescope with my phone. Handheld bc the little contraption that’s supposed to hold the phone to do this, wasn’t lining the correct lens up and nothing I did seemed to fix it.

The news is bad
Like always
Greedy corporations cashing in
On our despair
I go to the woods
Take my soul for a walk
Air it out
Breathe out the despair
The trees take in
Turn it back into oxygen
Unseen birds chirp lullabies
Each note
Gives me back myself

Over five miles on the White House greenway yesterday. Trying to get better at posting over here.

Having a buddy for those six miles walks makes them go faster!

Ten miles at long hunter today, and more frost flowers! No, I’m not tired of them yet. Yes, I did resist taking pictures of every single one, partly bc there were so many I’d have gotten no hiking in 🤣

I’m trapped

Cold and frosty 5.5 ish miles on the greenway this morning, and I found dozens of frost flowers! And even found a few in my own yard too! Fixed myself a proper hot breakfast at 11 am when I got back to warm up.

It’s Trailblaze time again! Year four!!! As many of you know, each year I take on the Trailblaze challenge for Make-A-Wish to raise money for chronically ill kids to give hope to them and their families.

I look out of the window of my house as I write, thinking of the wars, the genocide, the gleeful exaltation of the opposite of good, the perversion of justice, and I feel Julian reaching to me across time, looking out the window of her anchorhold…

Thanksgiving: pomander making, table-scaping. The kids and I went outside and gather leaves, nuts, bark, and seed heads to make our centerpiece. Then we finished cooking with the parade’s replay playing in the background, and finally sat down to our feast. 1/

Post-workout selfie. I only got about 80% in but in my defense, I had both kids with me, so I think I get bonus points lol. Donate to my Make-A-Wish fundraiser in the profile or story, I hike you donate, and together we gear wishes!

Had a great day down at Sewanee visiting and waking with Hannah Aloysius and Ellie the convent dog. After noon prayers, I left and hiked out on the perimeter trail a little ways and found a view spot for lunch before heading back home.

This book is like a retreat for the mind and soul. Simply gorgeous: I highly recommend it.

Rainy day walk. Pursuing my new hobby of learning to identify trees by bark. I’ll spare you the 60 something pictures I took of bark though ;-)

Axe throwing and a short hike at Bledsoe Creek this afternoon with the Girls Who Hike Tennessee. Finally starting to feel better after this sinus infection and asthma flare.

All my work at getting back into my body after the election had culminated in this: standing there hyper aware of a sandwich sizzling in a pan, in the middle of the day, in the middle of the week, in the middle of the story.
