I love a good story and am lucky enough to come across incredible true stories for my work. I plan on sharing some of them here, because even though I'm not an author, the stories deserve to be told. (And if you are a writer or an artist, please take what you like for a project!)
James "Miss Jim" Perry was SC's first female lawyer, beginning her career in 1918 in Greenville. She was the third daughter of professor James Perry and Jean Le Gal Perry, and graduated from the Greenville Women's College in 1913 before going to UC Berkeley for her law degree.

Dr. Eliza Grier (1864-1902), was the first African American woman to be licensed to practice medicine in the state of GA, but a city directory shows that she had a small clinic in Greenville, SC first.
