Keep up the dialogue, ZOS, and let's work together to make U47 a good patch for the end game community as well as the roleplayers!

There's still stuff I am really unhappy about in the update, but let's breathe and see how the next weeks of PTS will bring.

Honestly, I feel that ZOS should have seen this coming the last PTS cycle and done some of the nerfs before letting them go live, but it is what it is. Hopefully things will be slightly more blanced next patch, and hopefully they'll managed to do that without making too many skills too similar.

Nerfing the beam builds is simply neccessary, and honestly: Banner Bearer should never have been anything but a support skill anyway. The killing of Arca class mastery pains the lazy part of me, but it has been too good from day one.

Personally I think they are reverting all the changes I hated the most, removing unique buffs was a terrible idea and was about to kill the entire point of subclassing in my opinion. I was not alone in that, and the fact that ZOS even recognizes that is good news.

Not all of the changes are great, but all of them are a step in the right direction. That we get some nerfs the upcoming patch is not a surprise, and honestly it is quite necessary.

Took me three days to realize I wrote this on a Tuesday. I rest my case.

I did not expect this thread to go from gaming news to philosphy, I guess that's what I get from going on social media before I am properly caffienated.

Don't get me wrong, I too get excited when a new game, book or TV show in a series I love gets announced. But I do think the strong bias towards that kind of content is an unhealthy sign for the art and culture spheres in general.

It seems like the big studios, no matter the art form, prefer the safety of something known - to build upon what they already know people will buy, whether it is a game in an ongoing series or yet another movie in the Marvel universe. Consumers gravitate towards the worlds we know.

Sad news. Obviously so for the people who loses their jobs, but also for the gaming community in general. A brand new IP will never see the light of day - which seems a symptom for the times we live in: large investments are put into already existing series rather than in creating something new.

The axed MMO has been developed for 7 years according to reports (roughly the same amount of time ESO spent in development before release), so it's not a small investment they let go of either. Whether Frior decided to step down as a result of that or was asked to has not been confirmed.
