If you feel you have to check a partner's phone, you are either with the wrong person, OR you have unresolved insecurities. In either case, be transparent and tell the person that you are the type who checks phones, so he/she can decide ahead of time if you're the kind he/she wants to be with.

It is so wrong that anyone who wants to retrieve documents ELECTRONICALLY is charged for them. I could almost understand charging for printed copies, but to look at them online should be free of charge. It's almost as if they want to discourage the public from viewing them. 🤨

The driver was stupid and uncooperative, and he should've just given them his license. THAT said, these cops were egregious in their conduct. No need to strike this man. 😡

That said, I also think you can't heal in the same environment that made you sick. This country is poisonous in its worldview, and I sometimes think it will never be right. Other countries have their issues too, but those problems and anti-Blackness attitudes don't seem as virulent as in the U.S.

Yes, that is my older sister's position: "Why should I have to leave when they wouldn't have what they have without our blood, sweat, and tears?" That take has merit too. I can't begrudge anyone who feels that the country is ours too, and we can't be driven from it.

I like #resist. The word can encompass so many acts and omissions (overtly and covertly) to further the causes of justice, mercy, equity, and care. Everyone, no matter the circumstances, can find a way to resist fascism and injustice.

An idea I wish I had executed: collect all the hacks and recipes in one place; copy them onto flash drives; and send them to all your kinfolk (especially the generation below you). That way, your important family history and traditions will never fade away.

It's a great wonder that more of us haven't left way before now. I have wondered how many more horrors we have to witness and endure before we get out of here. This country has had ample opportunity to come to terms with its past and correct its wrong; it steadfastly refuses to do so. Thoughts?

I'm sorry for your troubles. Please don't despair. I've been there before, and it will get better. Please Google pet charities in your community and ask about charitable assistance for pet care. There might be one that can help you access appropriate care for your pet. ✊🏿

I would've liked a non-traditional schooling for K through 12 (e.g. a Montessori-type environment or home-schooling).

Some are moving abroad and speak highly of the quality of life they now provide their children. It's something to consider--if I had to do it over, I might consider living abroad with my kids. Right now, I'm seriously considering ex pat retirement.
