To be clear, I’m not saying that would “fix our midfield” but help us play his way. We had issues in the midfield under Ange as well, and Maddison helped deal with that by dropping and playing on the turn. We are playing lots of long balls now and Kulu is better at receiving those than our strikers.

I don’t think it’s ideal, but the key here is that Maddison and Deki can operate in the middle. We’ve been operating on the wings against extra defenders.

I agree but both Maddison and Deki have shown the ability solve problems and drop when necessary. Maddison is great on the turn and Deki can hold the ball up as well or better than any of our strikers.

I definitely think Frank could “figure things out” when Maddison and Deki return.

That almost sounds like a 4-2-2-2. Having a second 10 type player on the field would seem to address some of Spurs issues.

There is also competition between those aggrieved by culture war issues to see who can be the most aggrieved over the most things. That doesn’t lend itself to ever being resolved.

If I’m her lawyer defending a malicious prosecution civil case, I’d argue she’s not malicious, just incompetent. I wouldn’t be particularly confident that I’d win….

I think there are limits to possession football being a tactic coached by a manager rather than a characteristic of your players. Frank’s teams that I’ve seen, including Spurs to an extent, have lacked the technical quality to possess the ball in the midfield.
