I strain to see how we start to connect and bridge the gaps, and the damage of things like Twitter destroying themselves, but also the very societal mechanisms we used to maintain and progress civil society. Right now so much of it all is under attack and being undermined.

All that in an era where we desperately need to have 3rd places and more community interaction and connectivity.

In the face of the destruction of our republic, as a republic, with possibly the coming loss of the peaceful transfer of power - we're going to NEED that connection for civil society.

Which is frustrating for many obvious reasons, but worrisome for many others. The social fabric of US society is still broken from the pandemic closures and shut downs. The loss of 3rd places and related social society's immolation of itself during that era.

even with Twitter effectively dead as a core presence on the web connecting people. The dispersion of folks to Mastadon, Blue Sky, Threads (? 😬), and other places happened and there are some - albeit nowhere near as many - conversations and connections happening.

The economic, social, and related damage that his idiotic and destructive takeover of Twitter caused is still not particularly measurable. It seems in this era of "don't count bad things it'll upset the King with no clothes", that's par for the course.

But...

But now that entire ecosystem is effectively wrecked. I went through about 20 accounts from some of the big conferences and at *most* the users of note have an account with zero posts. A sizable % of the tech industry just left Twitter upon Elon's purchase, and over time, that % became a majority.

Probably bumpy as shit like in the 30s!

Ok, so forget my the underlying teaching and inference of the math and cultural system that are underlying the system in question…

what do you propose is a solution to this specific problem of chat-GPT directly or indirectly encouraging suicide?

Jesus hung out with the same people, so what’s your point?
November 9, 2025 at 12:54 AM
Based on scapegoats of the past, people also used to blame books, TV, the internet, movies, and video games for people’s problems. However this seems like just the newest qualm, with no systemic insight into the underlying real causes of the behavior. So just curious why infer we disregard the root?
November 8, 2025 at 11:20 PM
So you’re implying we ignore society that created the insight, data, inference, and introspection that has Chat GPT behave this way. That’s missing, entirely, the root of the problem. We could be rid of Chat GPT and we still have a large number of suicides. Why not look at the systemic issue?

Seriously!
November 7, 2025 at 5:39 PM
Another important question to ask though, is if Chat-GPT is advising this, it’s doing so based on material that exists in the world. The USA (and many other nations) have a growing suicide rate. Chat-GPT is a reflection of what has existed before, it did plagiarize the internet.

Russia is good at coming up with utterly insane nonsense. Their story doesn’t make sense in any way! 😳
