Social Psychology. Emotion, interpersonal behavior, conversation, social networks. I'm a dabbler, so if you love poorly-made arts and crafts or amateur improv, I'm your gal! https://emotionbehavior.com (Opinions are my own, not my employer's)
Ok but they're still each eating, on average, a bit less than HALF A BAGUETTE a day

It worked!!! UVA rejects the compact, joining the other 4 universities that stood for academic freedom in the face of coercion!!!
October 17, 2025 at 9:27 PM
Hundreds of UVA faculty, staff, and students showed up to fight for academic freedom and demand that UVA rejects Trump's Compact!
October 17, 2025 at 6:44 PM
Faculty, students, and staff everywhere should be proactively demanding that their universities reject Trump's Compact, which has now been offered to ALL universities. Make it clear to your administration what the costs of this compact will be.

The evaluation of whether we're adherent will be done via a vibes-based poll of faculty, staff, and students.

I'm surprised this one won't be a dealbreaker for well-endowed UVA

And of course, this wouldn't be complete without an anti-trans statement that lacks both humanity and an understanding of human biology

Throw in some anti-grade-inflation text so we have even more cudgels for hitting undesirable departments
October 2, 2025 at 4:56 PM
Clear destruction of academic freedom (and probably 1A): All university employees will "abstain from actions or speech relating to societal and political events". What are my colleagues in, say, political science supposed to teach??
October 2, 2025 at 4:56 PM
Every department must incorporate a "broad spectrum of viewpoints"
October 2, 2025 at 4:56 PM
Any department that is seen to "belittle" conservative ideas will be abolished

We're now accepting data blitz and poster abstracts for @spspnews.bsky.social Emotion Preconference (Feb 26 in Chicago)! We've got an exciting lineup of invited speakers, including a themed panel on emotions in groups. Abstract portal closes October 23. spsp.org/events/annua...

Just the VA governor's office warning state employees that freedom of speech doesn't apply to them, including "outside the office"

Also I'm still thinking about this line from @kimacquaviva.bsky.social like 5 times a day. May we all have such giant ovaries in the face of authoritarianism 🔥🔥🔥

Thought-provoking piece by @mastroianni.bsky.social arguing that science is a "strong link" problem: we should care less about how much bad science happens and care more about how much good science is allowed to happen.

I impulsively ordered "I Think You Should Leave" Christmas tree ornaments from an Instagram ad, then the seller accidentally cc-ed 180 customers in an email. We instantly united over our intersectional identities as people who like Tim Robinson and don't have safe internet purchasing habits. Help.

Introducing the "User Interface from Hell" Layout by Liason Letters, designed to distract you from how much you hate the tedious meaninglessness of evaluation scales for grad school recommendations!
