#thingsilove: sunsets, sunrise on the hills, and crumble for breakfast. Not a bad way to finish and start a day

#thingsilove (lost count!)
Gigs with friends in the evening sun, food on the beach at sunset, warm seas washing over toes in the sand. Glorious week in Cornwall. Home tomorrow

Missed my train by seconds, leaving time for a chat with Coffee Stall Chap, who was admiring my rapid reverse parking by his stall. He’d failed his test 9 times, now passed, but finds parking in tight spaces intimidating. “It’s not magic, just practice”, I assured him. He beamed. “Ok! Practice!”

#unsupervised Day 3 of 7: Korean chicken burgers with Asian lime and peanut slaw, and maybe just a few chips. Ben’s home but he’s definitely supervison-lite. Glorious evening for eating outdoors.

Yes there were calories involved. It’s OK. I’ll go for a country walk with the dog to burn them off…

#unsupervised - Day 2 of 7: A very responsible tofu and black bean chow mein. Rather good. Settled in for the evening with a very tasty blonde.

#unsupervised Day 1 of 7: Oh yes I did. What? Fish Finger and chip burrito. Washed down with This. Genius. (With salsa, black beans and La Costeña Serrano Toreados)

#thingsilove: Gorgeous Morning! Sitting out with a mug of tea in the still summer morning, listening to the songbirds and pigeons, and the muffled construction sounds of New Neighbours (who are making the house next door into their home). Pastries in the oven, coffee in the pot ready for breakfast.

I find myself wondering if any languages have a word for “The joy of walking the dog in the sunshine on a crisp spring morning”.

(Looking at you, Finnish friends…)

Sunday Bristol Scene. Coffee and pastries.

I may not be where I was hoping to be this weekend, but where I’ve ended up is very pleasant. Feeling the warmth of the sun on my back.

#OneSidedConversationsWithDog:
No. You’ve already had your chew. You wanted it early, you got it early.

Enough with the flippety-uppy ears and excited wagging. You don’t get another.

I know. Life’s not fair. Settle down.

#thingsilove on a Monday night: A little bit of Astro with the Seestar. Zero photographers were frozen in a muddy field while this was taken. Even had time for a beer, and a load of ironing. Leisurely Astro. M42 and IC 434

Glorious frosty walk with Dog today. Good morning all!

#WeirdWeather - jealousy is a terrible thing, but so is the unpredictable and unusual UK weather. So you’ll excuse me for wishing I was in New Zealand right about now. Wind and rain in January to be expected. Thunder, hail and lightning not so much.

Yeah yeah. Rub it in, you lot, why don’t you?

#thingsilove strikes again, with a glorious frosty morning. Makes a change from recent weather.

Hello 2025. Let’s get the #ThingsILove series off to a good start this year. Dawn in the City, and the office to myself:

I do love a good sunset.

I only nearly got blown off the ladder once. A step misplaced, carrying a beam awkwardly, sudden escalation in the storm. Wind roaring, trees thrashing, dog-flattening herself to the ground, there was a moment.

And then it passed. Perhaps not the best weather for putting up a pergola.

It seems I was not the only one working in the garden yesterday afternoon. Oh Dog. Where were you digging?

And just like that, winter arrived. Every day closer to spring…

Good ways to start your week: a gorgeous misty morning walk with Dog
