If you live in a HOA, you are not free. Which makes it funny that HOA developments were originally marketed as the "American Dream". We should have build upon what we had, not deforested/destroyed millions of acres of wild land, farmland, and peoples old homes. Now the next gen reaps the seeds sown.

The American suburb is fundamentally a system that builds the cheapest homes, enforces arbitrary rules on land owned by the citizens, and abuses its power to punish those who try to be unique.
