And it’s not because it’s unrealistic for some people to feel immediate attraction! It’s because the *audience* isn’t feeling it. They aren’t sold on these characters yet, and they don’t see what is driving the attraction. Physical good looks doesn’t cut it in shows where *everyone* is hot.

Reading this makes it so clear to me why I struggle so much with cozy fiction. I LOVE cozy, I am /the/ target audience, and yet so many cozy fiction/romance books just feel like random scenes strung together by vibes and nothing else 😔

sometimes I see books at B&N from authors who write concepts I love but in styles I don’t vibe with and I just nod at them solemnly, acknowledging our mutual regret that we’re not for each other 😔
