I am 60% done with my first draft (according to my outline) and I am fighting burnout. I'm closer than ever to writing the scenes that inspired this whole book, but the closer I get, the harder it becomes somehow, haha.

1,800 words written this evening. I call that a success! My daily average is a bit under 1k, so this was great for me! What's your usual daily output?

60k words into the first draft, nearly at the halfway mark! Life has slowed my weekly output down, but I still find the time most days to get some words onto paper. Discipline is the key, I'm finding. I expect the first draft to by done by early spring. Absolutely thrilled!

You ever have a scene so important to your current work that it was the primary motivation for starting the story to begin with? I'm only two or three chapters away from mine, and the anticipation is killing me!

50k words into the novel after less than two months. Feeling pretty good about it all! Can't wait to get to the second draft so I can start focusing on making it actually good!

That feeling when it took your book 100 pages to finally get going 🫠 like what was I even doing for the first 94 pages?🥴

I wonder why writing flashbacks in the present tense works so well when the rest of the novel is written in past tense. Maybe it feels more like you're reliving it, like you're there, in the memory? The way we actively recall a memory. Maybe it only works because of the juxtaposition?

I've decided that I want to try and build or find a positive community of writers in which we help one another complete our projects and give each other support when we start to feel that burnout. Here's to hoping!

It's always weird starting a new social media platform. Am I going to be the same version of myself on here as I am elsewhere? A more thoughtful version? A goofier, goobier version? I don't rightly know quite yet.
