Gee, I’m proud of myself when I merely read (and possibly understand) a SciAm article, and you write them. ;) kudos!

Look at the selfish part, b/c bigotry is ignorance but also power. Bigots are empowered by joining the club, getting praise from their comrades, and excluding others. “Real men” (and women ;) don’t want that boost. They practice respect.

Look at the rhetoric now against immigrants. Same idea.

Why misinformation and not lies?

Compare Giuliani (albeit not a prosecutor, same idea)

These offspring are actual “chips off the old block.”

Did you notice how the spaceship door closed without a seam? What they did was caulk the door shut, open it, and then play the film in reverse. I love this sort of practical, elegant approach to special effects long before the computers made everything slick.
As for the movie, good fun.

Demanding a Kirk apology and donation was … hilarious.

Well, at least in this dispute no one gets killed.

BTW “Net neutrality is the principle that internet service providers (ISPs) must treat all internet traffic equally, without discriminating or charging differently based on the user, content, website, platform, or application”

Yeah I’m sure they’ll get right on it. As you probably know, those conglomerates want Congress to raise the 39% limit on monopolies, set when one of them last expanded. Nexstar is aiming for a $6b merger.

I think Sinclair ad buyers are getting a lot of calls. We were blocked too (DC).

I liked Kimmel’s goldfish joke. It was funny and spoke a truth
September 24, 2025 at 4:13 PM
Oh please, I think he’s satisfied with the $3.5b he’s collected so far. (Just kidding.)

But I think Kimmel is right: Trump just can’t take a joke.

Parenthetically: the NASA VIPER lunar probe has been abruptly reinstated. Surprising!

And Nexstar has a $6.2b merger in the works requiring govt approval

You buried the lede there

It’s like Azerbaijan. Unpronounceable.

There will be a next time.

If it were just chaotic, unfeeling, and profit-driven, it would be bad, but patients and providers sometimes encounter a near-malevolence.

When you were a kid, did you shine a flashlight up in the air and wonder how far the light would go? Of course you did :)

A call for mass murder. Use simple words. “Eugenics” sounds too abstract, like “oligarch.”

A downside of democracy…. The thing is, Hitler was a plausible second choice for (too) many in a fractured electorate. It’s an important question.
