Was my first real concert, but we were in elementary school, so a mom was with us. She loved 'em too, so was all good. :) We had a blast, dancing and singing along. Still have the tour book! Was bummed to miss Mike, and very sad when broke during later reunion tours. Happy they reunited either way!

Early AM laugher in the laundromat when spotting this.
Minutes later, someone walked in from the street and struck up a conversation that began with eerie parallels (welcome to my world), but took an unfortunate turn into a bunch of NO. All good though, as we spoke our views and parted with smiles!

It felt easy to be friends with Joe (⬇️) when we met at a bookstore job because he is genuine and kind...and he enjoys the odd and grotesque, which I've always been. He introduced me to other odd things, which led to buying Overbite, Underbelly, and Ripple (not pictured) by Dave Cooper.
The hardcovers of Dave Cooper's Overbite (drawings and paintings of mostly pillowy girls, 2003) and Underbelly (additional observations on the beauty/ugliness of mostly pillowy girls, 2005). Both are full color matte finish cartoony pieces with small bits of shiny overlay, largely covering exaggerated mouths. Overbite features half of the oil painting titled, "They Like Gums" from 2002. A black vanity top holds various sex toys and bottles. The attached mirror reflects multiple women of all shapes standing in white underwear. One slender, pixie cut blonde reaches up and pulls back the lips of a rounder black haired gal, exposing her teeth and gums in a disconcerting smile. Other women watch and expose their teeth and gums in laughter. Underbelly features half of the oil on canvas titled, "They Like Mouths" from 2003 or 2004. Two very thick women stand in white underwear, one blonde facing forward and one brunette with her back pressed against the blonde's side and back. Lost most of a roll of film when a bottle of liquor in the same bag broke, but fortunately these were on the good one.

My family and friends were lucky to experience a few fun trips thanks to a loving uncle. One fave was a day at Chichén Itzá, Mexico, back when tourists were allowed to climb "El Castillo" and walk around the top. No picture fully captures the size or how far one can see out over the land from above!

Nothing but being there can truly convey just how BIG and STEEP these steps are. My younger bro and friend only tried a couple, and my much older uncle only made it to this point before heading back down. I was so winded that a sit down was required! Despite wavering nerves, I made it to the top of El Castillo! A picture facing the path to the sacred cenote, this focus is miles of jungle coverage from above, the seemingly endless horizon of rich green treetops meeting a narrow strip of blue-grey sky. It's not even the biggest monument in Mexico, but I've rarely been so high! Wish had taken more pics and stayed longer. The views are barely believable. I have no clue how far out one could actually see. Again, this does it zero justice.

Nuvo weekly, an alt publication, was my go-to for keeping up with local events in the 90s. I cut out this Matt Groening comic at the time because it reminded me of a couple people. Little did I know this personality type would make repeat appearances throughout the decades to come... 😏

No shock I'd have multiple music mag subs growing up, but those who only know pieces of older me might not guess that various fashion titles were on rotate as well (loved dressing up Barbie and Jem dolls as a kid).
Up into my 20s I made collages with them wherever I could. Kinda miss it.

My 80s She-Ra coloring books didn't quite fit in with my 80s Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, and My Little Pony coloring books...
An old scan of one page from a 1980s She-Ra coloring book. The character Catra is shown in profile, creeping through a wooded area towards something unseen. Her long black hair is pulled up in a partial ponytail, and a red pointed cat mask is resting on her forehead. Her purple cape makes a V around her neck, but doesn't appear to be clasped or attached to anything. Her outfit as drawn here, though mostly accurate to the animation, could be fairly viewed as somewhat unfitting for children--it features a very low plunging bodice due to a lack of printed garment defining lines, leaving her cleavage prominently displayed. Goodness gracious! Though the book was gifted in my childhood, this page was colored upon rediscovering it in my early teen years. Her cartoon outfit was mostly red, but I used black due to lack of crayon options...and for the contrast with the red chest bat and forearm bands! I think the neckline plunged even lower, but I colored it in with black for SOME semblance of modesty, haha.

Met new cats today! They are all perfect. Still on a kitty high hours later.

Her gentle green eyes have that dark black kohl-lined look. Slightly out of focus in the background, a shy, orange striped boy sits alone and watches birds through the front window wall. One and three quarters of cat, all sitting around the base of a metal table and chairs. The main focus is a fluffy muffin of a gal right in the middle, sitting on the table base, limbs obscured by the tufts of fur cascading around her. Somehow, most of the white whiskers are longer than the white mane around her face, neck, and chest. Even the pitch black on her back and head has long white strands throughout! I finally went to our Cat Café today and spent 30 glorious minutes with many kitties! It only took two years and four months of healing/arguing with myself to go after my last cat died. 😢
Managed to not cry there. Then started tearing up near home when the fact I had to leave them all there hit. 😄

A cute, wee, cartoony rendition of Jabba the Hutt, who is quite happy to be surrounded by four also very content cats. One white kitty is curled by Jabba's side, while a black and white one is draped over his tail tip. One calico is resting in loaf cat pose on his upper tail / lower back. Jabba raises his hands with glee to his smiling face as he spots a sight too cute to bear: a second calico is sleeping spread eagle mid-way down his tail, paws twitching in the air.

This is a very slightly tweaked bit written years back, titled, "In the pillared shadows we slept." what happens when I'm no longer this me? is another sacrifice in order? when arms are flung wide, and head is thrown back, and body falls. (drums beat rhythm) (water circles pattern) do you again rush forth, hair tumbling loose? catch me from shattering on the granite, polished, gleaming in the sun? Will either of us be as brave as we were then, Ancient One?
