Finished beret modeled by me. I love the bumpy ridges of garter stitch in hand knit garments and accessories. Are you ready for autumn temps?

Beret blocked on a dinner plate to dry. This gives the hat it's iconic disk shape.

Finished the knitting on my honey bear beret. Now, to give it a bath and form it over a plate to dry. This will achieve that classic beret disc shape it clearly lacks now.

Basket repair for the win! Keeping your processions in use longer to rebel against capitalism. I wound fabric and thread over the areas where bits had broken off. Simple and quick.

Mending madness today! Working on my husband's dress shirt which have holes along the arm seam from wear. I stitched a patch to the inside and stabilized the hole with some embroidery satin stitch. It's visible, but it'll do.

Duplicate Stitch/Swiss Darning a handknit wool sock for my husband. It's always nice to darn socks when the stitches have thinned, but have not broken through yet. It's so neat and tidy.

Let's normalize mending! Here is my fitted bed sheet with multiple patches where the fabric had torn with wear. Choose mending over throwing into landfill.

Rebel from the oligarchs who want you to consume more and more. This cotton sweater's cuffs lost their stretch so I sewed in shirring elastic thread making it wearable again. We need to normalize mending and caring for our belongings giving them a long and useful life.

My mother purchased this wicker laundry basket in the 1960s. Bits of wicker, and the handles have broken off over the years. I mended it by weaving strips of canvas fabric through the spokes. It's in daily use for my laundry. Tending to our processions is vital.

I believe mending is a form of rebellion. This basket was my grandmother's, who died in 1950 2 decades before I was born. I sewed the brim of the lid with indigo dyed cotton thread to fix the broken raffia & replaced the stained lining with some leftover scraps if quilters cotton.

Mending a navy blue Maggie's Organic cotton sock with heavyweight cotton thread. It is an act of rebellion to keep our garments in regular use as long as possible. I also find this kind of work incredibly meditative and rewarding.

Sewed up this flower hair clip today. I'm really proud that all material used were plant dyed natural fibers.

The sun is shining so I don't need yellow, and instead am embracing my blue garments. Opie is my deaf, one eyed American bulldog. He'll show up here soon.
