Occasionally, things got a bit more exciting such as when this Sea King rescued some girls who had got stuck on the rocks below.

This photo was taken to show my Gran ceremonially demonstrating the Qualcast mower she'd won, before it was passed to my Grandpa for the actual graft, but you can see the 70s Grotto entrance on the left and the Rock on the right of the shed.

My grandparents lived in the house overlooking the entrance to the lift shaft so The Grotto and Marsden Rock were the benign backdrop to lots of childhood memories. The Rock is just poking up in the corner of the window here, a couple of years before the arch collapsed.
