More broadly, the findings highlight the justificatory role of stereotypes in multilateral negotiations and how exogenous shocks can reshape their meaning.

Analyzing over 1,000 parliamentary questions and their respective answers, I reassess the common assumption that congressional hearings with the Fed ensure stronger parliamentary accountability than the Monetary Dialogues with the ECB.
