Rather unusually it's actually 100% #Tempranillo. We don't have much Garnacha around these parts.

The new wave is in a way the old wave, a return to roots. Not sure there's really a debate, as #Rioja's a pretty big region, so there's room for various interpretations. #Wine critics generally agree that the way forwards is site specific and less oak. But most consumers like the status quo.

Yes, I know Tom and have had their wines a few times. Defintely in the new style, which is interesting, as he used to work in barrel sales. I think he still uses oak for his more expensive wines, but perhaps larger format, or just to round out the wines or for a hint of complexity.
