Good to see that gambling advertising is understood as a public health issue at the Peers For Gambling Reform summit & there is a need for OHID to expand their gambling harms remit to cover the impact of ads @drbeccycoopermp.bsky.social

We are at the Peers For Gambling Reform summit today - Will from @endgamblingads.bsky.social highlights the 90+ councils who already ban gambling ads because they understand the impact they have on local communities. But we really need a NATIONAL BAN to protect people from gambling harms

Three dilapidated billboards in east Bristol have got us thinking about how the space could look different.

What would you rather see instead of corporate advertising?

Amongst the manifesto asks is a call to ban SUV advertising in public space, like on billboards and bus stops. Ending the promotion of dangerous and polluting SUVs on our streets would free up space for alternatives like public transport and active travel.
January 28, 2025 at 9:12 AM
SUVs are bigger, heavier, more dangerous and more polluting... and yet they seem to be everywhere on our streets.

But with a few simple changes we could create an alternative future of safer, fairer streets for everyone.

That's why we're proud to be part of the SUV Alliance...

A shocking example of gambling advertising using sexualised content to push gambling amongst a young audience.

Hats off to @endgamblingads.bsky.social for calling this out.

Residents in #Norwich are devastated as a locally significant tree has been felled by Wildstone to replace a billboard - destroying the home of a flock of starlings & damaging the local ecology😡We have sent a letter with @adblocknorwich.bsky.social to the company & await a response

And now Shell is crawling all over Carbon Capture and Storage as a "low carbon solution" despite no evidence that it works to reduce carbon emissions.

All the while Shell remains *overwhelmingly* invested in increasing oil and gas extraction.

Here's an ad seen on the school run in #Brighton -
"It's promoting fast food. It's sexualising fast food. It's introducing young children to the idea of pornography as (guilty) pleasure. It is promoting (to everyone, including children) the idea of being 'naughty'." What ads do you see? #Adspotters
