I did exactly the same. I'm keeping the extra in my paycheck and putting it in a separate account. In the meantime I'm finding a good accountant to decrease my tax owed at the end of the year.

I thought about doing this last year because I owed several thousand in addition to what I paid through my employer. The extension is only on filing. The penalties on what you owe start on April 14th or whenever text deadline is.

I just decreased my withholding last week. I have had to pay a couple of times over the last few decades but have never been fined for not withholding enough.

I work from home, too. It's the only way😀
