I agree with you that we need to take better care of our environment and rehabilitate whales which were heavily impacted by human whaling. Part of that is reducing rapid climate change.

The parts per million level of CO2 increase and temperature increase we see over the past 100 years is only paralleled historically by massive volcanic eruptions. The climate changing this rapidly is a serious problem because it doesn’t give animals or plants any time to adapt and evolve.

It doesn’t matter what the Earth’s climate was beyond a million years ago. The problem today isn’t that the climate is changing, it’s that it’s changing RAPIDLY. On the graph you posted, every single one of those massive dips or increases in CO2 levels is related to mass extinctions.
