First time in the pool since, hmm, August? Early September? Can’t remember…

Before it got too hot today, my son and I got up this morning and cleared all the overhanging branches on the sidewalk along the side of the house (which was getting only passable by little people). Exhausted now, but we’re done.

Another day working the #gencon2025 grind with @cmichpress.bsky.social (despite the happy face, my body is falling apart, getting old is dumb 😂).

Hey, what’s this? Rules for a duet version of Five Hundred Year Old Vampire? What’s that even mean? I wonder if you’ll be able to check these out at @cmichpress.bsky.social’s #GenCon2025 Exhibit Hall booth (#2759) this year? Now, I’m not one to gossip, but I have it on good authority that you can!

Hey what’s this, Drew? Oh nothing, just an idea for a Rainy City adventure laid out as a trifold brochure. Brainstorming some RPG stuff tonight. #ttrpg #RainyCityRPG

Gazetteer in back has details on old name, modern name, their classifications, their confidence in placing it, and where things are located in their map pages.

Apologies, got home from work and got distracted by prep for game night tonight (ran Night’s Black Agents!). Anyway, this is the book you want: The Helsinki Atlas of the Near East in the Neo-Assyrian Period, from 2001. Best estimation at the time for Assyria’s historical geography.

Been a long time since I was able to do a metric mile. And like 500-600 yards was freestyle, which I never usually have much stamina to do. #progress

Only took them 4.5 years, but I finally have a name tag like a real boy.

Still gotta work while the world burns, so here’s a WIP of a game setup diagram for the game manual for Keep the Faith I’m making in Illustrator. #TTRPG #CMichPress #WIP

Finished reading James Romm’s _Ghost on the Throne: The Death of Alexander the Great and the Bloody Fight for His Empire_ last night. Way more engrossing than I had expected. Now I’m thinking way too much about how to turn this into a prestige tv show. Damn, might need to write a treatment. 😂

Back to the drawing board. Doing a map in Flott’s Miscellany Vol.3, 1st time we’ve done that, so of course I have to draw the damn thing. #TTRPG #RainyCityRPG #Zinequest

Hey what’s this, Drew? Oh you know, just a #zinequest / #zinemonth thing for the Rainy City from @superheronecro.bsky.social. Been a couple of years since the last volume. More official info soon… #ttrpg #RainyCityRPG

1st swim of the year. Funny story: in seemingly empty locker room after, got interrupted at my locker while I was trying to take a weird Dutch angle picture of the tableau of my swim gear, gym bag, towel, and legs in front of me. No, good sir, I was not trying to take a dick pic. I had pants on. 😂

Friday Game Night: investigating the curious case of flying umbrellas in a small Headlands village of the Rainy City. #ttrpg #RainyCityRPG

Here’s a better view of the list in the previous image, all polished up a bit. Gee, I wonder what this will be from? #ttrpg #RainyCityRPG

It’s Xmas, Drew, whatcha doin’? Oh you know, mucking around with the Rainy City, as you do. We survived another Midwinder Night recently, so that’s cause for celebration, right? #ttrpg #RainyCityRPG

The Girl wanted a sea food boil tonight for some reason, so we compromised on a shrimp boil with a side of rice (also her choice). Turned out pretty good.

Yuuuuup, this checks out. Very much. 😂

Here’s an untitled piece by Sigmar Polke, which caught my eye because of how much it reminds me of Rainy City art by my talented friend @warbeard.bsky.social. Like I could see this in a Rainy City zine and not bat an eye. Bill worked well in finding accurate references for the Rainy City style.

A few more things from the SFMOMA I liked. This is “Das Museum” by Anselm Kiefer, which is a depiction of the planned Nazi Soldatenhalle (“the Soldiers’ Hall”) by the architect Wilhelm Kreis. Kiefer used lead in making this piece to contaminate the image and show how fascists poison history.

Spending the afternoon in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art while I wait for my flight to leave later. Really like this piece by Pat Steir, “Three Pointed Waterfall,” that I stumbled across in the floor with a bunch of abstract pieces. I might try to make a #ttrpg monster inspired by this.

And here’s a snippet of “Planet of the Shapes” from the start of the Brown album part of the show…wish I had had the foresight to record “Oolaa” from the Green album as the live version tonight was fucking awesome, but I was mostly in the moment. 😀
