Might already be solved but it appears to be a known issue: Ford extended the transmission warranty to 10 years / 150,000 miles, so it may be that you are just outside of the window at 11 years :( static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/202...

Repetition in the gameplay loop is a key thing for me. Once you've got that loop down, you can choose to engage with other mechanics at a level you feel comfortable with. It also highlights player progression, rather than character/gameplay progression. You always feel like you're getting better!
