I remember my parents doing something similar when the N64 came out with Golden Eye made my Christmas. I try and do that with my nieces and nephews now.

I haven't played any Silent Hill games so I won't be finishing it anytime soon either, if that makes you feel a bit better haha.

I did the same with Hades 2 bought it in early access and then waited for the full release well worth it so far in my opinion.
