I had to look up stanning: "be an overzealous or obsessive fan of (a particular celebrity)." Got it!

We were just there - at a book launch for a book about RAISING TRANS KIDS. And, they gave us the "we've got your back" line to cheers from adults and youth in the audience.

Had to look up PRRI: "PRRI (Public Religion Research Institute) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to conducting independent research at the intersection of religion, culture, and public policy." www.prri.org

What uni's should prioritize: (1) what the uni dept can offer that distinguishes itself from other offerings - e.g. dedicated guidance not available elsewhere (2) a balance of core geographic knowledge and McGyvering (the ability to learn on the fly and assemble data and tools) No silver bullet!

Hello Matt,

I want to be sure I understand the question. Can you clarify: How should unis respond to what issue(s) in particular? We, and you, shared several observations about GIS education in recent years.

The other interesting statistic? The top 18 of 20 MOOCs of 2024 (per Class Central) are not from universities, but from companies. David and Ed Team were way ahead on that one...

My recollection is that the original geoapps MOOC (Do-it-yourself Geo Apps) always had the highest completion rate of the MOOCs offered.

And, we learned the queer pastor with whom we dined had gotten married to her partner last week. Just like we had.

The attendees ran the gamut - old, young, black, white, dressed to the nines, dressed in jeans and hoodies, religious, not religious, with all sorts of gender expressions. The inclusiveness was heartening.

Wednesday evening I attended my first TDOR gathering. We gathered, we introduce ourselves, we solemnly read more than 100 names of individuals killed by anti-trans violence in 2024. We cried. We shared a meal and stories. Small children ran around. We exchanged contact information.

As I've seen in the past, greetings referenced "National," "World," or "International" GIS Day. To my knowledge, it's always been "just" GIS Day. I joked to colleagues that if we need a geographic boundary for the event, maybe it can be "Intergalactic GIS Day," so that it's fully inclusive.
