It's cool that you don't understand how the cultural impact of something can overshadow something that came out before it. I bet it'd blow your mind to learn that Oreos weren't the first chocolate cookie with a cream filling.

Why immediately jump to the assumption it's a lie? Weird. It's an extremely common, and very valid, opinion in film discussion circles. It's not about The Matrix causing Dark City to fail in box offices but about the cultural impact of The Matrix continuing to overshadow Dark City to this day.

Of course not, they're used to the idea that the big guy in charge is only responsible for the *good* things in their lives. The bad has to be someone else, so they still don't see where they've made a mistake. All they see is more adversaries than they realized.

All of this is why I've long said we don't have a two party system in the US, we have one party putting on a cute puppet show to entertain and distract.

Of course not. Existing alone is worthy of respect. It's not an easy thing to do, for people or ideas. But that respect should get spent fast if that existence turns out to be less than worthy.

We should absolutely respect the religions and cultures of others.
We should also remember that respect has to be *earned* and *maintained*. A lot of people, especially older Americans, forget the absolute holy fuck out of that fact.

As a Christian, you should be deeply offended at the Christian Nationalists for making you look bad not upset at others for calling all the horses with black and white stripes they see 'zebras' without making sure some aren't just painted on.
