Working author mom trying to do it all!
I just wrote 611 words, breaking a streak of... Say... 8 days? Of not writing at all
Yay me!

The other day, we had a severe thunderstorm warning. I left work 5 minutes early under deep gray clouds and kept glancing up at their heavy-looking undersides as I rushed home. Trees swayed and flags whipped in the wind. As I got closer to home, I began hearing thunder in the distance.

I recently ran low on the most delicious smelling body wash I've ever owned.. it was a gift, and I wasn't sure where to buy it, so I ended up on the company's website. It was Native brand, and the emails they sent me for order confirmation and shipping notification were FANTASTIC.

I spent half an hour or so last night working on my current story, and woke up at 4:10 this morning buzzing with creative energy.
But I knew from my kids waking me up that early in the past that I wouldn't be able to function today if I got up then.. so I forced myself back to sleep.

I feel like Suzanne Collins is the pinnacle of author goals for me. I've always wanted to craft worlds where everything had a meaning- the names, repetition and reflection in her different HG books, and the ability to drop a banger and then disappear from the face of the earth until the next one!

I'm dabbling in three different writing projects currently... I used to only focus on one story at a time, but I've heard this is a good way to avoid writer's block and getting sick of your own story.
Has anyone else tried that technique? Simply write on whichever project you are in the mood for!

Being a blue dot in a red state just makes me want to go into the forest and never return sometimes...

One of the things that sucks about being a writer is bending your entire being toward a story/project and then, one morning when you're making waffles, you get the idea for an amazingly fucked up retelling that is way outside your normal genres..
Like brain, this isn't what we're doing here. FOCUS.

What is your dream 2025?
Putting politics and the big picture aside - what do you want to accomplish on a personal level?

This morning in the shower, my brain was reliving and rehashing the dream I'd had where I screamed myself raw. It kept on and kept on and I had to metaphorically wrench my brain onto a different track.

Well, i can't do shit about what's going on in the world right now so I am focusing on my mental health.
Today was fantastic. I didn't see any news sources until after 9pm. Because it was a holiday, I took the kids to daycare and then came home and wrote over 4k on my manuscript.

Today i opened up tiktok to see what would happen. It had a gushy thank you message to Trump for "saving it", and then it immediately asked me to confirm my information. I uninistalled it.
I opened Facebook. It asked me to confirm my account information. 👀

As a writer who is also a mom *and* works a 9-5, free time is pretty scarce for me. The writing often gets pushed to the fringes, until recently. For the past month and a bit, I've written on roughly 1/3 of the days.
What changed? My therapist asked me to prioritize writing as a form of self care.

I absolutely love when you get clarity on something in a story that helps move the writing process along.
For instance, in my current WIP, I had originally started the book right after the heroine had broken up with her boyfriend.. but around chapter 3 things started to fizzle out.
