It's a unique look at what happens in the rebuilding after a war and the sheer scope of amazing. The cleaned up version makes it so much easier to see all of those injured soldiers are just mannequins.

It's interesting insight into the ducked reasoning of the south in the war. I also think it's interesting that only the most selfish people managed to get ahead after the war, according to the book and movie. The line where Ashley says he would have freed the slaves soon anyway is... insightful.
