Yeah, the continue button disappears, but you should be able to load your game. Let me know if that worked, but I'm certain that you'll be able to continue your quest now ;)

Clicking new game shouldn't delete your existing profile. Also: the game saves only once you reach the first Sacred Grove.

Have you tried loading your existing profile from the "Load Profile" option in the main menu?

And what would you say about taking this to - what seems like - extremes and making a souls-inspired tactical deck builder?
