I just finished up the first draft of this year's projections! We're sitting at 464 players at the moment. That's everyone currently on a roster, some FAs who are likely to get a guaranteed deal, and some two-way players who are a good bet to get an extended look this season.
July 31, 2025 at 12:05 AM
And so it begins.
July 17, 2025 at 10:44 PM
Carter Bryant is a project, but one with quite a bit of upside. He's a really nice option for rebuilding teams in dynasty. He only played 19.3 MPG at Arizona and averaged just 6.5 PPG, so we're likely not going to see a ton of him next year.
June 26, 2025 at 2:16 AM
I'm iffy on Queen as a long-term big minute guy because I don't think too many teams want their starting C to be a negative on defense, which Queen almost certainly will be, but NO is a very interesting landing spot for the center.
June 26, 2025 at 2:16 AM
Essengue is a project. He just turned 18 and has some pretty interesting tools. He's huge (6'10") and moves well. His numbers were very solid in Europe for his age. 1.4 SPG in just 23.7 MPG in the EuroCup (a second-tier European league). He also had a nice per-minute scoring and rebounding rate.
June 26, 2025 at 2:15 AM
Coward is a hard guy to project because we haven't seen much of him vs. decent competition. He spent his first two years of college in the Big Sky Conference before playing just six non-conference games for Washington State.
June 26, 2025 at 2:15 AM
Maluach is an interesting fantasy prospect because he projects as a center who can put up strong numbers in all of the big man categories while hitting his free throws. He averaged 8.6 PPG on 71.2 FG% and 76.6 FT%, 6.6 RPG, and 1.3 BPG in just 21.2 MPG at Duke.
June 26, 2025 at 2:14 AM
Murray-Boyles is a very Masai pick. Take the athlete who can defend and bank on him learning how to shoot. It's worked in the past for the Raps. CMB is an interesting long-term prospect because if the jumper does come around (0.3 3PG on 1.1 3PA), there will be a lot to like.
June 26, 2025 at 2:13 AM
Demin looked amazing for the first handful of games last season and then fell off a cliff once BYU started playing better teams. He's a project, but in Brooklyn, projects can play. Really good passer who's huge, but can't shoot. 41.2/27.3/69.5 shooting splits.
June 26, 2025 at 2:12 AM
Fears is a combo guard who should eventually end up as a full-time PG due to his size. He had a great steal rate in college (1.6 SPG), is a decent passer (4.1 APG), and gets to the line a lot and makes the most of his attempts (85.1 FT% on 6.2 FTA). There is a lot to like here.
June 26, 2025 at 2:12 AM
Johnson is likely going to end up as a strong contributor in all of the scoring categories. As a freshman at Texas, he averaged 19.9 PPG on 42.7 FG%, an excellent 2.7 3PG on 39.7 3P%, while knocking down 87.1% of his 4.2 FTA. The question is can he do anything else, because at Texas, he didn't.
June 26, 2025 at 2:11 AM
Ace is high-risk pick both in real life and in fantasy. There are a lot of red flags here. This isn't a Cam Reddish situation where a highly-touted high school prospect was absolutely atrocious in college, but Ace definitely wasn't good.
June 26, 2025 at 2:10 AM
Knueppel is one of the least exciting lottery picks from a fantasy standpoint. He's almost certainly going to end up as a three-point specialist, although potentially, a very good one. He shot over 40% from deep at Duke on solid volume (2.2 3PG) and was elite at the line (91.4 FT%).
June 26, 2025 at 2:08 AM
Edgecombe is an elite athlete who posted an elite steal rate at Baylor (2.1 SPG). That last bit is exciting because college steal rate is a strong predictor of NBA steal rate. Guards with elite steal rates don't need to do too much elsewhere to be useful.
June 26, 2025 at 2:08 AM
Harper is another player who has the potential to produce positive numbers in almost every category in his prime. His college line had no notable holes in it even though he spent a good chunk of the season playing hurt. He's a very efficient scorer inside the arc who gets to the line a ton.
June 26, 2025 at 2:02 AM
Flagg comes with an elite fantasy profile and is very likely to live up to hype. The list of players who have had freshman seasons in the same stratosphere as Flagg's consists almost entirely of HoFers and future HoFers. Beasley and Zion (who could still get there) being the exceptions.
June 26, 2025 at 2:01 AM
KP for almost nothing is nice work by the Hawks. Fantasy-wise, KP and Trae should be fine. Jalen Johnson likely takes at least a small hit. Big hit for Okongwu, but he should play enough to be a top-100 guy. There should be plenty of no-KP and/or JJ games where he goes off.
espn.com ESPN @espn.com · Jun 24
Breaking: Boston, Atlanta and Brooklyn are finalizing a three-team trade that sends Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round pick to the Hawks, Terance Mann and Atlanta's No. 22 pick to the Nets, and Georges Niang and a second-rounder to the Celtics, sources tell Shams Charania.
June 24, 2025 at 11:05 PM
Good news for Poole. He likely gets a min bump in NO with McCollum gone and Murray out for most, if not all, of the season. Poole only played 29.4 MPG last year. Could be a top 40 guy in 8-cat. He finished just outside the top 50 in that setup last season despite the low min. Big upside in punt FG.
FROM SHAMS:

The New Orleans Pelicans are trading CJ McCollum, Kelly Olynyk and a future second-round pick to the Washington Wizards for Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey and the No. 40 pick, sources tell ESPN.
