In my opinion, HDHPs are fine for healthy young adults and mostly bad for everyone else.

I have a HDHP with an HSA and a lot of $$$ invested in it over the years. It works as planned, I suppose, and incentivizes me to avoid going to medical providers in all but the most dire circumstances. Unsurprisingly, we’ve chosen to have our young kids on Dylan’s more traditional health care plan.
