Then Kings' corpses get put in the caves
10:27
But at the time of the going down of the sun, Joshua commanded, and they took them down from the trees and threw them into the cave where they had hidden themselves, and they set large stones against the mouth of the cave, which remain to this very day

This part isn't so fun to read...
10:24
...Joshua summoned all the men of Israel and said to the chiefs of the men of war who had gone with him, “Come near; put your feet on the necks of these kings.” Then they came near and put their feet on their necks.

Also in this chapter - Joshua causes the sun and moon to stand still

19:12
...Sun, stand still at Gibeon,
and moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.”
13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stopped,
until the nation took vengeance on their enemies.

and the strange story of Akhan being singled out for the breaking the plunder law…

We missed the exciting story of Jericho and the continuation of Rachab’s story since we haven’t read together as a family since the first night, but I did ch 4-6 and 7-9 on my own… Joshua is always a little difficult because of all the war and violence…

I'm excited Jeremy!
#tanakhyomi
a few chapters/day of a biblical book from Prophets (N'vi'im) section of the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh), and later from the Writings (K'tuvim) section, keep up with the weekly Torah portion daily or just all on Shabbat... And in a year we'll finish the whole #tanakh !
Tanakh Yomi
Tanakh Yomi is a program to study the Tanakh every day. Tanakh stands for Torah, Neviim (Prophets), and Ketuvim (Writings) of the Hebrew Bible.

Agreed on both accounts
I’m trying to read lots of different news sources but I’m also hearing directly from friends and colleagues who live there and from many different organizations including peace and dialogue groups - and to our great sadness, a 23 yr old from our community killed @ music fest

But yes I'm very very sad and upset about the Gazans who have had such terrible lives for ten, twenty years now... And are now without electricity and water... And I am so sad that so many will die as Israel tries to rescue hostages before they are tortured more and killed.
It is heartbreaking

I think I'm usually with you on that but if they gun down 260 young adults at a music festival and decapitate babies and rape people and then parade them through the streets... That's certainly dehumanizing to those victims - I'm not sure the perpetrators of such acts need to be humanized

Like grandmothers and babies, then the quote sounds logical.
But of course if it's seen as referring to everyone in Gaza then it sounds like it's dehumanizing an entire population.

I've been watching the news a lot this evening and reading posts and sadly seen some of the awful videos - terrible.
