Sometimes I misspell a word so catastrophically wrong - and then spend far too long trying to think about the correct spelling - that I start to wonder if I should be banned from the written word entirely. #writingishard

One of my biggest work pet peeves is when organizations stop at reflection that doesn't lead to action.

This week's The Strategic Advance article addresses that issue and provides a free guide to help turn organizational evaluation into real action with a better SWOT.

After previously praising R.F. Kuang for her growth as a writer between The Poppy War and Babel, I'm sad to report I've DNF'd The Dragon Republic.

The characters feel far more childish in their actions and conversations than the first book, despite what they've faced. Very disappointing. #booksky

"People don’t become better versions of themselves as they acquire intellectual information; they get better as they acquire emotional knowledge — the ability to be made indignant by injustice, outraged by cruelty, to know how to gracefully do things with people, not for people."

A great read.

To close out my 2024 reading, I'm close to finishing Babel by R.F. Kuang. While I do have some criticisms, I've largely enjoyed the book and its commentary on colonialism. I read the Poppy War immediately before Babel and it's inspiring to see her growth as a writer between the two books. #booksky

Their work centered on a powerful — and almost radically obvious — idea: that the economic fate of nations is determined by how societies organize themselves. In other words, the economists sh
